We respect the privacy of your personal information and understand that it is very important to
you. We recognise the importance of protecting this information.

What this policy covers
This privacy policy governs the use and protection of any personal information by Boston
Liberty Pty Ltd   ABN 128 407 974   trading as the
  Home Loan Depot, its employees, any
related entities, and any related mortgage or finance brokers that will assist you. (“Home
Loan Depot”, “we”,“our” or “us”).

This policy sets out how we will collect, use and to whom we will disclose this personal
information. In addition, we cover matters such as personal information security,
access, quality and accuracy. This policy applies to all personal information  that the
Home Loan Depot  may collect , disclose and use, whether that information is digitally or
manually processed. Our Privacy Officer’s contact details are listed at the bottom of this form.

Privacy legislation
The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 amended the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). These new provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) commenced on 21 December 2001. The main part of this amendment, which applies to private sector organisations, are 10 principles called the National Privacy Principles (NPPs). The NPPs are a set of standards for the handling of personal information. The

Who is Home Loan Depot
Home Loan Depot is a trading name of Boston Liberty Pty Ltd  ABN 128 407 974. We are an orgainisation that offers financial products and services within the mortgage industry.

Meaning of: Personal Information
Personal information is any information or opinions about you that we collect and record which reasonably could be used to identity you.

Where and from whom we collect personal information.
Where reasonable and practical we will collect your personal information only directly from you. We collect personal information from our clients, our website, online forms, information provided by you on the telephone, application forms, referrers from other businesses, and broker interviews with you. This policy statement applies to all personal information that that the
Home Loan Depot may collect , disclose and use, whether that information is digitally or manually processed.

What information do we collect
We collect personal information that is necessary for the performance our functions and activities which consist of the sourcing, funding, organisation and administration of loans, loan guarantees and any related activities.

This personal information we collect will vary depending on the circumstances, but may include the following: your name, address, telephone numbers, email address, financial details, information relating to your 100 point identification check, employment details, and credit reference checks (but only if you authorised us to carry out a credit reference check). We may also collect other necessary personal information in order to perform the services that you request.  

To whom do we disclose personal information
The employees or contractors of the
Home Loan Depot may disclose personal information about you to any person or organisation:
i)  involved in providing services that are related to the sourcing of a loan or loan guaranteed by you.
ii)  which participates in funding, providing and administering of a loan or loan guaranteed by you.
iii)  that may have or is considering having an interest in your loan, or in our business.
iv)  to anyone you authorise us to disclose your personal information to.
v)  that provide products or services used or marketed by us.
vi) to meet your request for services.
vii) to any referee nominated by you.

The following are some of the individuals or organisations that we may disclose your information to: credit providers/lenders, other mortgage intermediaries, credit reporting agencies, lenders mortgage insurers, solicitors, valuers, accountants, underwriters, and mercantile agents.

We may contract an external organisation to provide us with support services, e.g. the provision of marketing services and distribution.  We will only disclose the information that is absolutely necessary to facilitate the service that they are to provide.

The following are some instances where we may disclose your personal information without your authorisation:
i)to comply with our legal obligations, e.g. to a court of law or to the Australian Tax Office.
ii)where we suspect that unlawful or illegal activity has or is going to take place, and personal information is necessary in reporting the matter or is part of an investigation.

Why we collect personal information
We collect, use and update personal information, which we receive from our client’s and other business referrers, in order to carry on our business. For example, 
i)   the assessment of applications, processing and obtaining approval for loans or offers to provide guarantees,
ii)  for quality control, training, verification purposes (e.g. sometimes monitoring or recording of telephone conversations),
iii)  to assist with the administration of loans and related activities,
iv)  in order to provide you with a service that you have requested,
v)  to communicate information about our or a related third party’s services and products to you (you can always opt out stop receiving promotional offers. Kindly refer to ‘Promotion of products and services’ below.),
vi)  to meet our legal obligations.

Seeking access to personal information
We will provide you with access to the personal information that we hold about you. Please note that there are some exceptions set out in the Privacy Act where we may refuse your request. Should you want to find out what personal information we hold about you, you can contact our Customer Care Centre on (02) 9402 5927 or the  Privacy Officer who’s contact details are listed below. When you contact us we will need to verify your identity or by requiring that your request be in writing. You will need to specify what information you require. We may charge you a fee to cover the costs in retrieving and providing this information to you. We will promptly acknowledge and investigate any complaints about the way we manage personal information.

Correction of personal information
If you believe that any personal information about you that we hold is not accurate, complete or is outdated, you may request us to correct that information.  We will take reasonable steps to correct such personal information unless we disagree with your request. Should we disagree with what information you wish to change, we will add a notation to the personal information indicating our disagreement.

Updating personal information
We value having the personal information that we hold on you being accurate and up to date. Should your personal details change, especially your address, contact telephone numbers and email address, we encourage you to contact us so that we can update your information and continue to provide you with our products and services. We will make any changes such as this free of charge. We will generally rely on you to provide us with updates to your information.

When access to your personal information has been denied
There are some instances where we are not required to provide you with access to your personal information which we hold. For example, if there are legal proceedings pending or underway, or anticipated. If we deny you access to your information, we will provide you with an explanation as to why the request was denied. We may not be able to do so if we are ordered by a court of law not provide an explanation to you. 

Direct marketing
The
Home Loan Depot may seek your consent to use or disclose your personal information for the purposes of informing you about special offers, products and services. We provide our clients with the opportunity from time to time to receive information about special offers, products and services. By providing your personal information to us during any of our information collection processes, we will assume we have your consent for us to use your personal information to enable you to receive offers that we feel may be of interest to you. These offers may be from us, from any company we are associated with, or that we market products for. You can opt-out or unsubscribe as indicated below.

Sensitive information
Home Loan Depot generally does not collect sensitive information. Sensitive information is information relating to your racial or ethnic origin, sexual preference, health, membership of a professional body or trade union, criminal record, or religious or political beliefs or affiliation. We may disclose and use sensitive information only if you have given us your consent to use this information for a particular purpose, or if for a directly related secondary purpose, or as allowed by law unless you agree to otherwise.

How your personal information is stored by us
We are committed to taking reasonable steps to store your personal information in such a manner as to safeguard it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. 
The way we do this is:
i)  to ensure that information that is stored electronically is secured by way of both password and firewall protection,
ii)  that personal information is only accessed by people who’s job it is to access such information,
iii)  that hard copy information is stored under lock and key,
iv)  that personal documents and information on computer screens will be placed in secure areas where they cannot be viewed by unuathorised people,
v)  that we take all reasonable steps to establish the identity of a person who makes an enquiry for any of your private information, and
vi)  to ensure that we have the authority to provide that information to them.

Once we no longer require your personal information, we will take all reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify that information.

Changes to this privacy policy
We may update our privacy policy from time to time. We reserve the right to change our privacy policy at any time.
