Sydney Northern Beaches offers the type of layback suburban lifestyle but with the benefit of being at or close to the beach. One can still pick up a small flat from the low hundreds of thousands of dollars, but prices can climb steeply when there are water views involved. Over at the northern end of the Sydney Northern Beaches, in the exclusive suburb of Palm Beach, prices can climb up to the many millions of dollars for a luxury water front home.

Transport links to Sydney City are not that great and the road system is finding it increasingly more difficult to cope with the increase in housing density prescribed by the NSW State Government for the area. Public transport to Sydney City is also not that great and there is no train line on the Sydney Northern Beaches. There is a good ferry service from Manly to the city. The bus system on the major routes are quite efficient.

However, if one does not have to travel to the city every day or towards the Western Suburbs of Sydney, the Northern beaches can be a really great place to live. It offers the sea change lifestyle that so many people are looking for at an affordable price. Homes near the beach on the Northern Beaches cost so much less than those in Sydney’s eastern Suburbs, so for those not having to travel to the city or our out west, this region of Sydney can certainly offer a sea change.
